December 2005 —The Festival of Lights Parade

Each year the city of Palm Springs puts on a great parade with lights on trucks, cars, and floats of all kinds. A few movie stars usually attend and large crowds turn out. Click here to see pictures from the recent parade. FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS SLIDESHOW

April 26—Wellness Park Groundbreaking

Donna Craig of the Desert Healthcare District reports that groundbreaking ceremonies are scheduled for 4 p.m. May 4 at the park site. The park is at the corner of Tachevah and Via Miraleste. The public is invited to attend.

Citizens Police Academy Class 37

March 23, 2005 -- Palm Springs, California --Detective Troy Castillo of the Palm Springs Police Department has announced that the 37th Class of the Citizens Police Academy begins Thursday May 5, 2005. Dick Mandell has just been graduated from this class and would be happy to discuss all the features of the program with any interested party. CERT—Community Emergency Response Teams

Fire Chief Blake Goetz said that the CERT program is looking for more good people. Those interested in being members of teams that help the area respond to emergencies should contact Chief Goetz at (760) 323-8181. It is a program of neighbors helping neighbors in times of emergencies.
